Canada: B. Harvey, the developer of 50 malting barley varieties is honoured by CWB
An agricultural scientist who developed more than 50 varieties of malting barley is being honoured by the Canadian Wheat Board, The Canadian Press posted on July 6.
Dr. Bryan Harvey was scheduled to be cited for his contribution to Canadian farmers and the grain industry at the board's head office in Winnipeg Wednesday.
Harvey's development of two-row varieties such as Harrington, CDC Copeland, CDC Kendall, Stein and Manley revolutionized the western Canadian barley industry. The varieties offer superior yields and quality.
